Deschutes Brewery, from Bend Oregon, is one of the nation’s most popular micro-brewers. Representatives will be on hand at Roy’s Kahana, Friday, March 26th for an amazing six course Beer and Food pairing dinner.
The meal and menu is being created by Roy’s right hand and business partner, Jackie Lau, from Oahu, who will oversee preparations for for the dinner in Kahana. Jackie participated last fall in Deschutes Classic Feast, a popular two-day celebration in Bend which benefits the Deschutes Children’s Foundation.
Although the menu is still under development, inside sources tell us there will be Crispy Skin Moi, Maui Range Fed Lamb burgers with quail egg, Maui Cattle Brisket with Kabocha Pierogi, Fatted Duck to go with the Juble Ale beer served with Duck Frites (duck fries and tempura haricot vert and okra) and a Warm Island Banana Tarte Tatain with Macadamia Nut and Marscapone Creme.
Menu subject to change but there is no doubt for $50 it’s going to be a delightful evening and great value! Call 808-669-6999 to make a reservation.
Report:
After tasting the various ales and porters from Deschutes that night, I understood why I hadn’t been a beer drinker – until now! Beer never tasted so good as it did paired with Chef Lau’s creations including various spoonsized servings of Poke – Tako, Ahi, and Kampachi among them. That was just the start, the meal followed with multiple protein rich courses including lamb, beef and fish each prepared to compliment Deschutes brews. Here are some photos of the event:
