When Maui Prime Fine Foods opened its doors at Emerald Plaza in Lahaina in November of 2006, it was West Maui’s first market to offer a full range of gourmet food products at a retail level to island residents and visitors. Proprietors Cary and Karin Button had wanted, for a long time, to be able to provide the average food lover on Maui with what they had been able to supply to restaurants and hotels on a wholesale level – and then some. Their desire was to offer fresh, gourmet and specialty foods to those who love to cook and eat, and to provide these in a place where they could offer up the kind of personalized service that comes naturally to those who love to enjoy great food. In other words, Maui Prime Fine Foods is not only about providing intriguing and hard-to-find specialty foods to the Maui community, but is about assisting with cooking instructions, menu tips and wine pairings.
