Pineapple Grill Bar
Have you dined out recently, looked around the room, and wondered where everyone went? There’s no doubt things have been a little slow lately, but it certainly didn’t seem that way from the looks of things at Pineapple Grill last night.
Lured by the promise of half-priced food at the bar, we had stopped in and were overjoyed to find the tables in the dining room filled and seats at the bar scarce. Fortunately, we were able to snag bar stools from friends who were just wrapping up their meal.
Making merry with fellow patrons while enjoying the live music, we enjoyed the prime vantage point at the corner of the bar which allowed us to observe Chef Ryan Luckey and his staff as they hustled non-stop to meet the heavy demand. It’s amazing what they accomplish every night!
So efficient are they that once we had placed our orders for ahi tacos, lettuce wraps, spring rolls, chicken skewers and crab cakes, the mouth-watering, meal sized appetizers were presented almost instantly, to our deep appreciation. By then we were hungry.
More than sated, we ordered one last indulgence, the trio of tropical sorbets. Making mental notes on our dining score sheet we all agreed the great food, lively ambiance, energizing music, and attentive staff left us wanting for naught. We gave it an enthusiastic 10, agreeing full heartedly with Pineapple Grill’s well-deserved nod as Best Restaurant in the Maui No Ka Oi 2009 `Aipono Award results.
Best of all, the Friday night bar special allowed us to enjoy all that for a song. Now that I think of it, there were moments when we did actually sing along with the entertainer!
