Lahaina Coolers is the perfect place to meet friends for a casual lunch, light supper or late night snack. Located in downtown Lahaina a few blocks from the hustle and bustle of Front Street, they have been operating for 20 years at this location. Hats off to them! Considering it’s one of the few restaurants serving food from 8 a.m. until midnight, twenty years represents impressive commitment, dedication and hard work.
Lahaina Coolers menu includes the usual suspects (wontons, poke, nachos) along with surprisingly great preparations of their Greek Salad and Quesadillas. But their Coolers Alii Chop and Puaa Prawns might earn a place on your favorites list. Once you’ve tried them you’ll be back for more.
The menu also includes a number of creative pastas and pizzas like the Evil Jungle with chicken, onions, and peppers with spicy peanut sauce, shrimp pest. When you can’t decide between two food favorites simply order the bacon cheeseburger pizza and have it all!
If you’re an early bird rather than night owl, stop in before you hit the beach or harbor and choose from a wide assortment of favorite breakfast dishes, from omelets to granola, pancakes to loco moco. Prices are super reasonable by Maui standards with appetizers $7-12, pizza $12-14 and entrees $15-24. If that weren’t enough, in appreciation for 20 wonderful years on Maui they are currently running some splendid specials.
- Every other Saturday, 7-10 p.m. Uncle Benny Uyetake takes the stage playing all musical requests from his enormous catalog of cover tunes. (He also plays at Tropica at the Westin Kaanapali.) Benny’s lighthearted, energetic attitude always gets the crowd in the mood for a great time.
- Each Monday, Lahaina Coolers cooks up “some of the best Mexican food on the island. Everything from fajitas to chile rellenos to enchiladas.” Take advantage of $3 coronas, Tecates or Margaritas.
- To prepare for Monday morning, stop in for Home Cooking Sundays when home style meals can be had for under $15. The menu will change each week — it might be meatloaf, corned beef and cabbage, lasagna, or beef stew. One thing is certain. The comfort food will remind you of simpler times.
